William (Will) Helmke

I am a Postdoctoral Research Associate in the department of Infomatics at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign,graduating this spring semester. I am interested in the intersection between games, culture, and the representation of physical space, seeking to make connections between games and culture in considering how physical space is reproduced in games' virtual worlds. I am also interested in the role of controls in the video game experience, the preservation of video game media and technology, video game localization, and adaptation of narratives to or from video games, and Japanese game studies more broadly.
